Dennis, a self-taught photographer, has been snapping pictures of the natural world for about half a century. As a teenager, he took pictures of Ignace and area on the weekends to show his high school classmates in Manitoba. “I really enjoy showing people what a wonderful area we have around here,” he says. His favourite shot-and likely his most well-known-is a picture of White Otter Castle at dusk, with the darkening sky contrasting with the illumination from the camera flash. (That image has been featured in Canadian Geographic magazine and Reader’s Digest Book of the Road.) Prints and cards of the Castle picture, as well as a close-up of wild blueberries, are his most popular sellers.
